AT 6 PM

What the fuck I hate delhi after waiting for 3 hours Metallica is not even performing . Micheal I hate you
 ·  · 5 hours ago via Mobile
SO THE CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELLED. DONT TELL ME I HAVE A BLACK TOUNGE, COZ I PREDICTED IT THE DAY I BOUGHT THE TICKETS....FUCKING KILL THE ORGANIZERS
FRANTIC........ TIC.. TIC... TIC... TIC... TOCK!!!!

By the way, the Diwali festivities at the Doon club were a bit, how do i put it, strange? blast from the past? Probably all of the above. Met some people i hadn't met in years and some others i wasn't sure if i should have met, brought back a lot of memories. It was nostalgia overdrive but no regrets, its great walking back down memory lane every now and then.

So got back to Delhi yesterday, the drive this time around was quite smooth. However my stiff shoulder doesn't seem to be holding up too well. Honestly if it comes down to another surgery, not sure ill be able to handle it.
I just hope its a passing phase and a few days of rest and ill be back to being normal.
Anyways Metallica concert has me quite excited, just a few more hours and ill be seeing one of my favorite bands live Yay!!

Self realisation - Am as dysfunctional as they come

Saturday, October 22, 2011

Overtly introspected.
It's always great to come back to Doon . It's been a year and I have missed it like how.
However the traffic was a bitch took me 9 hours to cover 290 Kms and even had to detour via haridwar.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

Overtly introspected.
Listening to Asim rafiqui at the habitat and wondering about a lot of things

You know you are in heaven when you drink wine like water and eat olives like peanuts..
South of france could not have been better than what i had imagined it to be.
Two hours from Marseille and i am in Heaven

Monday, October 03, 2011

You can't hate Immigration officers more than you can hate them in india. Grumpy old fuck's who are born to fuck with your brains.
Anyways that hurdle apart i am finally off to Marseille in an hour or so ( the flight is already an hour late, and the airlines had to change my connecting flight from Paris....)
Its almost midnight and i am already pooped... guess i have a really long flight ahead..

Milk, Middle class and Mayhem.
The show must go on, a shining India is nothing but a paradox. A society so desperate to break free from the self imposed shackles that its lost in the very abyss created by the cultural conflicts its extremely proud off.

Like a movie shot in grainy monochrome suddenly gone HD in Technicolor we are a desperate lot, striving to compete with the West as we understand it.

Its no longer about the Maharajas and the elephants, but about the Tommy Hilfiger’s and the Nike’s.

A never-ending competition, a never-ending battle, the shining Indian middle class single handedly constantly strives to take on the west.

The opening of the economy in the early 90’s brought with it a rainbow, like the breaking down of the Berlin wall and the collapse of the erstwhile Soviet Union, the Indian middle class rose to dizzy heights of confusion and abysmal lack of identity.

Who are we? Really? An English speaking colonially hung over society? The Raj might have been passé but the Raj within is still very much alive.

We are proud of our culture, we are proud of our Kamasutra but we are ashamed of acknowledging that sex is not just for procreation.

The Indian middle class no longer serenades around trees and flowers don’t mysteriously appear when lovers decide to lock lips. We are now bashful, proud and horny. The Average Indian middle class male is the new Sex God, the potbelly is the new six-pack and we are proud of it.

The Indian middle class has been taught that slavery was abolished by Gandhi but ironically its now enslaved by the Corporates that suck the very life out of it.

In the process we are now a culturally displaced society, so alien are our very own cultures that Gandhi could have been a pot smoking rock star playing B minor at 4 consecutive concerts and no one would have known. After all Che Gruvera wasn’t a revolutionary, but a Tee sold in Lajpat Nagar for 100 rupees.

Strange times these, we strive, but for what?  Tighter fitting skinnes?

Virtues are only for the farmers committing suicide down south, all while the Indian middle class ‘shines’.

Children no longer play in parks, families no longer dine at neighborhood Udipis and Mc Donald’s is the new Roti. We are the new middle class!!

We are a beautiful lot, so obsessed with fairness creams that the entire Somalian per capita income is spent by a single middle class family to achieve the ultimate goal of fairness.

We are after all a very fair society, where the ever-struggling middle class bridges the gap between the rich and the poor.

We are also a society deep in debt, while the poor struggle to feed the many mouths they created, the middle class struggles to pay off its credit card bills which reached astronomical heights trading Rotis, with Pizzas and dhotis with jeans.

We all roll are R’s and Arnold replaced Hanuman once Terminator 3 hit theaters.

Christmas is the new Diwali and Valentine’s Day is the only way the middle class is capable of expressing its love.

Also Wine is nothing but stale grape juice and beer is the new milk.

Whatever happened to the 70’s and the 80’s? Whatever happened to the hard working middle class striving for comforts and not enslaved by luxuries.

Whatever happened to the good ol’ Roti?  A middle class that dined out once a month, and ate meat only to celebrate an unforgettable occasion?

A middle class that was proud of its virtues, a middle class  that taught its children never to waste food. A middle class that could afford to buy its children toys only on their birthdays?

Gone are the days when the middle class proudly spent 5 rupees on a haircut and a shave only on a Sunday at a neighborhood saloon and pedicures and manicures were for aliens from a distant Galaxy some 37 light years from earth.

Gone are the days when Lux was the only soap and Nirma detergent was the color of India.

Gone are the days when Lord Ram had the power to bring an entire nation to a stand still for an entire hour every Sunday morning.

The middle class is now a pretentious rebellious mob, everything is “cool” and everyone is a “dude”. Where Anna is the new Gandhi and fighting Corruption is the new freedom struggle only because it has the potential to get you laid!

The Taj Mahal is no longer a symbol of love but a gimmick to rape the pockets of the West.
We steal, we cheat, we lie, we bribe, and we ensure that no matter what happens and no matter what we evolve into THIS SHOW MUST GO ON!!

Sad day for music,
REM broke up after 31 years of great music.
Legends...

There is more to this life than this, I am sure there is. I know one day, someday, this fear will go away, vanish into the very abyss it came from.
One day, i will no longer be a slave to vagaries of this society, that one day i shall stand arms eagle and breathe.
That one day, everything will be a bluer shade of bluer. The skies will be azure forever.
That day shall come,  and thats the hope i live with and for...

I do believe in signs.. and just 3 weeks after Lana took me under her wings to shoot documentaries, i found a 1968 Canon super 8 film camera at a garage giveaway.
I picked it up in a jiffy and spent the last 2 hours restoring it and lo behold it bloody works.
The funny bit, it still had batteries from the 60's
BEAT THAT...
Bloody brilliant

Not like the insomnia was any better, and now thanks to my fear of earthquakes, there goes whatever is left of it..
Last night (if i can even call it that) i slept at 7 am.
Freaking brilliant...
Its a Pearl Jam Midnight....

Its a terrible thing to live in fear....
Another nerve wracking earthquake experience last evening. Still shaken

The camera is just a tool...

Monday, September 12, 2011

I wonder where i am headed, i am asked time and again, what i am doing with my life and where i want to end up.
Answers to which i don't seem to have, yes i am a qualified lawyer, who doesn't want to practice law, and people find it hard to believe.
Yes i want to be a photographer and yes i have a lot to learn, which i am, and thankfully i do have some work coming in and i am sure if i do work hard this will work out too.
Till then.....Let me at least try!!!

Also on a more important note, its pertinent to point out that i am sucker for hell and torture, years after leaving the ex boss i once again heeded to her calls to help her with stuff till DEcember and i am regretting the move and how.
If only she knew how much i hate her...
Just this morning i was screamed at for no reason. Bloody brilliant, however i did write to her an hour back
Dear Ma'am
I request you to abstain from screaming and or raising your voice while conversing with me vide email and or otherwise henceforth. Your failure will result in consequences dire and or otherwise.
Warm Regards

I think that should shut her up for a while.
Have another meeting with Lana this afternoon, we might be shooting this Wednesday, looking forward to it.
Glad to be working out again, this time it was really tough to pick my lazy arse and hit the treadmill. But after much procrastination i finally did it yesterday. Super glad about it.
Honestly i am not growing any younger, and i really need to keep myself in shape.
Zen and the art of my maintenance....

Finally the first good news this month. Tickets to Marseille have been booked. Flying out 4th Oct to shoot a wedding.
Super Excited, its been a while since i went to France. Looking forward to it.

And well, the hell continues, woke up to a  flooded delhi, DEAD FUNNY !!!

Thursday, September 08, 2011

Am moving to Mars... a life sans psycho bosses, a life sans terrorism, a life sans earthquakes and a life where the indian cricket team doesn't lose every match they play!!!
Yes I have a problem, yes I am scared and yes I am extremely disturbed.
I cant help it, earthquakes are like my kryptonite. It seems to just suck the energy out of my soul, scare me to a level where darkness and silence make me tremble.
Last night was bad, after a long day after dealing with the blasts in Delhi, while I lay in bed watching a movie on my laptop, my kryptonite struck and how.
3 earthquakes in a year, is a bit much for me to handle.
I am not really sure what to do or how to react.
Its all too scary and unnerving.

Black September continues, bloody blasts at the Delhi High Court. Really sad and depressing, thankfully neither me nor anyone i know was injured and or killed.
From the face of it, it was the litigants and not the lawyers who were targeted. The explosives were placed near gate 5, where the litigants have to line up to ensure they are issued passes. Its rare to find lawyers there in the morning.

The only bright side, had a great shoot with Lana this morning.
Guess September came with quite a bang. And not a good one though.
Had my car vandalized, a friends mum finally lost her battle with cancer and my assistant's husband ended up in the hospital with a severe heart attack.
Its been all downhill so far.
My assessment its been a tough tough year.

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Just got back from my travels yesterday and was called in to assist Lana a great camera person to help her shoot a documentary video interview.
It was great work and super fun.
Hope to work with her a lot more.

The Bay...
August 26th

As we prepare to land at Bhubneshwar ( the Lizard town as duly informed by my cousin, a city where lizards just fall like the rain from the sky ), i cant help but look back at the past couple of weeks.
Traversing the length and breadth of this vast insurmountable country i am kinda feeling sad that this will be over in a few days. Adi, PG, PR and i have been like this dysfunctional family catching and on most occasions almost managing to miss those early morning flights.
Its been bloody brilliant
More-so i even managed to go to Pune, its been 7 long years since i went back there.
Law School hasnt changed a wee bit since the days, time  as it stands  stood still and refuses to budge. I was even delighted when almost everyone back there recognized me, the professors, the parking attendants, the library staff and the folks at the canteen. Its been great,
Soon we shall be landing a shoot at Konark and then another shoot tomorrow and life shall return to normal.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Strange times these, I am not a Gandhian and I can never be one, non- violence aint my forte, and Gandhi, O well Gandhi aint my best bud, given a chance ill dish him at every given opportunity, much to the displeasure of an entire nation.
As for corruption, I stand against it, I stand against this government, and its overtly preposterous regime, laced with malice, corruption et al.
I am sick of being ruled by wankers who rape this country to fill their coffers.
But I don’t believe in Gandhianism, non violence didn’t bring us freedom, it brought us pain, death and 60 years of a ‘surely you can fuck with me’ attitude that is something I cant stand.
So when Anna stands up against this government, I stand with him but not as a Gandhian but as someone who says lets go out there and start killing those very people who stop us from rising against them, against corruption and tyranny.

Random musing at 3 am-
If only, insistence was the solution to the unsolved mysteries that plague our very existence, life as it may seem would be an aurora waltzing in the sky....

Friday, August 12, 2011

Cricket hasn't been this painful since the 90's .. very upsetting

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

Its strange, ever since i got the iPad earlier this year i have been confined to reading books on the same, with over 800 odd books i was lulled into believing that i didn't the real thing.... till last evening, when i chanced upon a small treasure of books an intern was throwing away before he left the country for good.
Old habits die hard, and i chanced upon the opportunity and brought 3 big boxes of books home.
Bloody brilliant...

A must see

Finally moved to the iPhone albeit after much resistance.

Thereby completing the entire mac collection.
 An Evening at the Dargah

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

Its going to be a crazy month ahead, have 6  off location shoots,  and shit loads of editing. From dayafter i have to start editing at least 6000 photos, looking at 50 a day.

Also thankfully my hammy seems to be better now, have been hobbling for 3 weeks. Had a decent workout session this evening, feeling pretty good.

'Elderly Woman behind a counter in a small town'- on repeat on a Turbo Prop flying through what seems like bad weather- Fun!!
Just another sleepless night here, i hate it when i have an early morning flight to catch, just adds to the insomnia.
So all set to be on the road for a week or so. Travels to the far east, me the 5D, the iPad and the monsoons to give me company.
So looking forward to it.
Delhi at a lot of levels can be super stifling, the urge to move out is always rather strong.
